Sammy, the yellow lab, would like to invite dogs and people to celebrate his 4th birthday! Please join us for a fun day of cooking out, cold drinks, volleyball, horseshoes, darts, frisbee, music, and celebrate Sammy’s birthday! After dark we'll have a campfire! Party is from 3 to 11 pm. Dogs and children are welcome. Please bring a dish or picnic item to share and indicate this on the meetup. Please bring a dish to share and your favorite drink. Bring a meal for your dog if it falls during their mealtime, as they will be tempted by our picnic foods. My yard is partially shaded but not fenced. If your dog will stay around, they are welcome to be off-leash. There are extensive trails in the woods behind my house, but no organized hike this day. People are welcome to walk their dogs back there or informally form a small group for a walk. A hose and doggie pool for the pets to cool off will be provided. Anyone who wants to stay over is welcome to pitch a tent in the large wooded yard. The party will take place in Landing, NJ (near Lake Hopatcong) -Exit 28 off Route 80 - western Morris County. Phone number and directions will be provided to those who reply Yes or Maybe. Please email any questions to me. In case of rain other than drizzle or a short shower, we’ll postpone till Sunday -- please call if in question.

Hi Gang, Though this will be in Monmouth County, it is really going to be an informative session for all to help become aware of Global Warming and there will be green team cool cities training on how to get your own town involved as well as how to test and lower the carbon emissions in your town and even how to test individual buildings on how much carbon is being emitted! Truly, Diana PS: Will try to input directions as soon as I possibly can, but I will currently be in "moving" mode so not sure how much access I will have to a computer, but till April 30th, you may contact me directly with full name if interested in attending and I will send over to Organizer Faith Teitelbaum, or feel free to contact Faith Teitelbaum directly at info@coolnewjersey.o rg To Get Involved with this unique training program! Letter Below from Faith Teitelbaum info@coolnewjersey.o rg : ******************** ******** Dear Fellow Sierran, Congratulations! Your mayor has signed on to the US Mayor?s Climate Protection Agreement. This is an agreement to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions from your town. Some mayors, their staff and environmental commissioners attended a March 8 Sustainability Roundtable in Middletown sponsored by the Monmouth County Cool Cities Partnership. The purpose of this roundtable was to introduce everyone to the Cool Cities Campaign (www.coolcities.us), talk about different aspects of climate change and tips on building sustainable cities in New Jersey. On May 17 we will present a follow-up workshop. The morning session again will be for mayors and staff and will include sessions on green building, green purchasing and the process to create a Climate Action Plan. We will also discuss the necessity of forming ?green teams? in each town. The green team, a combination of city staff, citizens, church groups and others will work together to find ways to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions from your town. We are asking you to participate in the afternoon session and become a part of the ?green team? in your town. Your participation on the green team would include attending the carbon inventory training May 17 from 1-4 PM. This informative session will be given by Professor Patrick Hossay, Associate Professor Political Science Sustainability and Environmental Policy, Richard Stockton College. You will learn how to help your town collect data to determine how many tons of carbon dioxide your town puts into the air every year. That will establish your carbon baseline. Once your baseline is established, the town can decide where to start to lower the emissions. We hope you will come join us and feel the power of democracy that is generated when citizens and community staff work together If you think you might be interested in joining us in our campaign to reduce carbon emissions locally, please send an e-mail to info@coolnewjersey.o rg by May 1. Thank you Faith Teitelbaum NJ Cool Cities Campaign Sierra Club ******************** * Directions: Training will be at the Middletown Arts Center. The best way would be on-line directions...the closest parkway exit is 114. The Arts Center is at 36 Church St., Middletown, NJ 07748 You can take the Coast train because it's literally next door to the train station. Or, if you drive, the Arts bldg has parking and there is also a lot of parking directly across the street which is normally used by commuters.
