Details

Christopher Neidl, the Education and Outreach Coordinator for Solar One, will present
information about Solar One as a tie-in with Earth Day events. Solar One is New York's first
solar-powered "Green Energy, Arts and Education Center," as designated in 2001 by the
New York City Economic Development Corporation. Solar One is located in Stuyvesant Cove
Park, which runs along the East River between 23rd and 18th streets.
The electricity for this public open space and educational facility does not come from a
central generating plant, but, instead, is produced through solar, wind, and other methods
that do not leave a carbon footprint. Solar One is an example of eco-friendly urban
architecture and, as such, can help to solve the massive energy problems that face us today.
Through examples of Solar One's work, Chris Neidl will show us the potential of solar power
and how we can conserve energy in our homes to become involved in the effort to solve the
nation's and the world's energy problems!

When: Sunday, April 20 Time: 1 P.M - 2:30 P.M. Where: Reidy Friendship Hall
Unitarian Church of All Souls 1157 Lexington Avenue at East 80th St. New York City
