Remember: we meet at the bar at the front of the restaurant. If you come after 7:15, check for us at a table toward the back (and take a look at my picture so you remember who you're looking for).

*** IMPORTANT NOTE: SORRY FOLKS -- the automated meetup.com scheduler somehow did not change to the SECOND Wednesday of each month, and I didn't catch that the recent e-mails it sent out were for the wrong date! Our next meetup this Wed., 3/12. The next one after that will be 4/9 and so on. Apologies to Alison and anyone else who came last week.

And, as always, here's a description for newcomers:

A vast and growing majority of stakeholders (scientists, policy makers, industry and individuals) now accept what the environmental community has been trying to stress for years: that global warming is real and largely caused by human activity; that peak oil is just around the corner (if not already here); that the external costs of burning fossil fuels are real and significant (from public health costs and lost productivity from particulate pollution, to damage to farms, forests and fisheries from acid rain); that oil exploration, extraction and transportation has tremendous risks and geopolitical costs. In response to these current and impending crises, many states, including NY, are now giving significant amounts of support to developing alternative energy industries and strategies. But much more could be done. On the federal level, there are now tax credits for renewables for the first time in a quarter century -- but, as good a thing as that is, federal support for alternative energy is still sorely lacking. The purpose of this group is to bring together interested folks to discuss what we can do to address these issues on the state and national level, within our county, our local communities, and within our own homes.

Please RSVP!

Note: When we meet at City Limits we first meet at the bar area at the front right of the restaurant. At about 7:20, if there are more that a couple of us, we try to get a table towards the rear. If you arrive later than that check for us at a table. If you've never joined us before, use my photo, at left, as your guid (click on it for a larger version).

Thanks,

Lee
