DESCRIPTION:Washington DC Environment Meetup Group\n\nJoin us for an action
  packed day of family fun\, education\, and adventure on the Potomac River 
 and Minnie’s Island.  Activities will include canoeing\, orienteering\, fir
 e building\, and knot tying.  Team-based competition will be good natured w
 ith an emphasis on outdoor skills. Instruction and informational workshops 
 will be offered for children ages 8+ and their parents.  \n\nA lunch of ham
 burgers and hotdogs (along with buns and condiments) will be provided.  Any
  other desired food or refreshment other than water should be brought along
 .  Canoes will be available\, although you are encouraged to bring yours if
  you have one.  Participants should also bring sun-screen\, bug-spray\, and
  like items.\n\nSpace is limited! Participants MUST RSVP to chapin@potomac.
 org by June 18.  NOTE: This is different than the meetup rsvp.\n\nAbout the
  River Center \nThe River Center is open Saturdays and Sundays from May thr
 ough October from 10 am ‘til 2 pm for tours of the lockhouse and interactiv
 e exhibits. Inside the River Center\, the Conservancy installed a new exhib
 it\, “Backyard to the Bay\,” that connects what happens on the land and the
  health of the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. Visitors are guided by
  the Potomac Conservancy’s volunteer docents who lead tours\, answer questi
 ons and discuss the historical and cultural significance of the C&O Canal a
 nd the Potomac River to the regional economy and the local quality of life.
