DESCRIPTION:Washington DC Environment Meetup Group\n\nReed Martin\, winner 
 of old-time banjo contests for 30 years\, will be playing a very old claw-s
 tyle banjo to the beat of the river. Come enjoy the scenic scenes of the ri
 ver on the steps of the River Center while listening to the tunes of the ba
 njo.\n\nThe River Center is open Saturdays and Sundays from May 3 through O
 ctober 18 from 10 am ‘til 2 pm for tours of the lockhouse and interactive e
 xhibits. Inside the River Center\, the Conservancy installed a new exhibit\
 , “Backyard to the Bay\,” that connects what happens on the land and the he
 alth of the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. Visitors are guided by th
 e Potomac Conservancy’s volunteer docents who lead tours\, answer questions
  and discuss the historical and cultural significance of the C&O Canal and 
 the Potomac River to the regional economy and the local quality of life.  \
