Every year the NYC Park Department turns Christmas trees into mulch for city Parks and tree beds. That's right, it's Mulchfest again.
MulchFest takes place on January 5 & 6, 2008 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Participants are encouraged to bring bags to take advantage of the free mulch provided.
* All lights, ornaments, and decorations must be removed from the trees prior to drop-off.
* Participants will be able to take wood chips and/or mulch home from designated chipping sites.
Mulchfest will take place at the following locations:
Central Park W. 63rd Street & Central Park West
Central Park W. 81st Street & West Drive inside the bridle path
Riverside Park W. 81st Street & Riverside Drive
Riverside Park W. 79th Street & Riverside Drive
Riverside Park W. 97th Street & Riverside Drive
If you miss Mulchfest, or live too far away, the Department of Sanitation will collect for composting clean holiday trees left at the curb from Thursday, January 3 through Wednesday, January 16, 2008. Make sure all lights, ornaments and stands are removed before setting trees at the curb.
Have a happy, healthy and GREEN New Year!
