Details
We've been discussing "Lifeboat Communities", and how we might prepare ourselves now to live in a future situation of oil scarcity, lack of other resources, and potential upheaval.
We discussed the video "The Power of Community," dealing with the profound (and difficult) transformation of Cuba to energy self-sufficiency, brought to our attention by Ken Illingsworth.
We had a discussion of what we can now do, ranging from protecting investments, to insulating houses, to Brighton's desire to reduce energy use by 10%, to buying farmland, to buying a gun.
We've scheduled two meetings in February. This first (2/6) will be to preview a PowerPoint sent around by Margie Campaign on Thompson County's preparations for possible disruption of our way of life.
Our second meeting is not firm, but our thought is to show and discuss the Thompkins County plan on Wednesday 2/27, Brighton Library, this time in the large meeting room, with the general public invited.
Please do RSVP for the 2/6 meeting.
Peace and joy!

"We pretty much finalized plans for our first public event - having Jon Bosak from Tompkins County Relocalization Project give a PowerPoint + Q&A on 3/27. Way to go! We also talked about grander plans."

Robert Walter
"Not special. But progress."
